The Art of the Clean Up

BEFORE & AFTER

Swiss comedian and artist Ursus Wehrli applies his love for organization to everyday life and objects. SO AWESOME.
If only my life could be so organized!

Thanks to {hrk the herald} for introducing me to this great find.

Happy Weekend!

Happy Friday friends! Wowza, I cannot believe it is the first weekend of December. That is crazytown. I am very excited to bust out my sequins and a sparkles for my first holiday party of the season tomorrow night! As for the rest of this weekend, I plan to do lots of things Christmas - shopping, partying and decorating. Oh and there is that little thing called studying for finals that I need to get around to at some point...we'll see about that one.
Enjoy your weekend!

Warm & Cozy

Aaaaaaand hello winter weather. I knew these lovely 60 degree temperatures we have been enjoying in New York were just a little too good to last right on into December. I guess it is fitting that the temperatures start dropping just as all of the Christmas decorations are going up! I love the warm and cozy feeling of chunky knits! From hats hats and boyfriend sweaters and even for the home from rugs to bedding. Makes me want to snuggle right up with a giant cup of hot chocolate and the new hunger games book that I have been waiting to start. Happy 25 days 'til Christmas!!!

BIG ASS SKIRTS

Speaking of holiday parties, this holiday seaon I would love to rock a fabulous, completely ridiculous, giant mother of a skirt. SJP in this amazing Zac Posen number was the only redeming quality of the SATC2 movie. Since then I have loved this look, which was all over the runway for S/S 2012. Love the dramatic skirt paired with a simple tee. So fun!

OPI Muppet Mania

Loving this holiday Muppet collection for OPI in honor of the new flick that hits theaters this week. I have been all about jazzing up the nails lately. I love a little sparkle every now and then and living in NYC where $9 manicures are waiting on every corner keeps me changing them up quite often. I'm excited to try out some of these glittery shades like Warm & Fozzie or Divine Swine...perfect for the holiday parties that are just around the corner!

Makeover Monday: Smoke Signals

Go big or go home. Sometimes when getting all fancied up for a night on the town I'm craving a good smokey eye. Cue Beauty Department to the rescue! Check out their helpful tips on how to achieve the perfect smokey look. (Maybe one of these days I'll be able to get it right)! Smashbox's Smokebox trio is one of the best combo's I've found. Any other smokey colors you would recommend?

In The Trenches

Happy Monday friends! Last week sure was one hell of a crazy week, but this past weekend was fall perfection. Blue skies, some sunshine, a nice little chill in the air and a visit from the bf to boot. Aside from fun outdoor activities, this weather is the perfect compliment to one of my fall favorites, the classic trench coat. I invested in this wardrobe staple just last year and it has quickly become a favorite. Throw it over any outfit and you instantly feel chic! (Or, at least I do).
How cute are those polka dot tights?!

Holla-ween

Trick or Treat?! A little black and orange inspiration to kick off your week. We are celebrating a bit of a white Halloween here on the east coast, definitely a first as far as I can remember! I spent Saturday night cooking with friends and watching scary movies which was quite perfect. A cat mask similar to the below was about as far as I made it for a costume this year, but I did see some excellent creativity out and about on the streets of NYC this weekend! (Excluding the 87 girls dressed as black swan). What was your favorite costume?

Go For The Gold

Glam it up with some black and gold. On your wrist, on your feet, on your furniture and yes even a blackberry. (Hello golden Iphone, where are you hiding?) Here are some gold + black combos I am loving.

Halloweeeeeen

What is everyone going to be for Halloween?! This is always one of my favorite holidays, and I absolutely love getting dressed up.  This year however I am seriously lacking in the costume idea department! I am a big fan of making my costume, so I am quickly running out of time. I am hoping for a creative epiphany sometime soon,  but at least I can get in the spirit with a crackle manicure and some fashionably decorated IKAT pumpkins. Love!

The {new} Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

I have been pretty excited about this movie from the moment I finished the last book in Stieg Larsson's trilogy, and from these gorgeous photos of Rooney Mara in this month's Vogue, it appears that Lisbeth Salander has been quite perfectly cast. Also starring Daniel Craig as Mikael Blomkwist, this film is shaping up to make for some serious eye candy. Now let's just hope they fare a bit better than the Twilight crew as far as the acting is concerned.

Maxed Out

Thanks to this lovely little Indian summer we are having here in New York, I have not yet had to give up one of my favorite summer staples, maxi skirts. This summer favorite transitions perfectly to these crisp fall days by throwing on a chunky sweater or wrapping up in a comfy scarf. Loving these looks below.

Street Style: Green With Envy

Lean green fashion machines. Aka the purveyors of style on the streets from London to Milan to Paris fashion week. I am kind of loving it.

Isabel Marant S/S 2012

Isabel Marant is one of the shows I look forward to every fashion week! Love, love, LOVE this woman. Her collection this time around reminded me more of fall than spring, but that does not stop me from obsessing over her ridiculously colorful chunky knits and boho, world-traveler inspired looks.

Weekend In Photos

Such a great weekend in Columbus! Lots of eating, drinking, and hanging with friends. And of course lots of quality time with my two favorite boys, Nick and Bromley. Went to my first (and probably last) OSU game of the season which was a blast despite the loss to Michigan State. Can't believe it is already October! Just last Thursday it was 70 and humid in NYC and this weekend I busted out the winter hat and gloves. Ringing in this lovely fall morning with a delicious PSL. Yum!

Oh How I've Missed You!

Hello friends! Well it's no secret that I have been an absolutely terrible blogger lately, so let's kick this post off with a big, fat apology. This past month has been one wild ride as I try to re-acclimate myself to life as a student and to a brand new crazy city. With that, my personal life has pretty much set up shop on the back burner.  My diet (in which pizza has quickly become a staple), my workout routine (essentially non-existant these days) and this blog have been painfully ignored. Not to mention that I have barely been able to keep up with all of my daily favorite sites! I feel like I have missed so much. Now that I am somewhat back in the groove of a daily routine, I am really hoping to get the rest of my life back in order pronto. And I am hoping to reconnect with so many of you! This weekend I took a much needed vacay back to Columbus and have spent the past few days relaxing and catching up on life outside of school. It has been awesome.

So happy to be here.

Doing this all day long.

These Boots Are {Not} Made for Walking

If there is one thing I have learned since moving to New York, it is how embarrassingly low of a pain tolerance I have for walking in fabulous shoes. Now that I am running all over town and taking the subway to and fro, flats are my new BFF. Sad but true. The ladies at fashion week however had no issues flitting about town in ridiculously sky high heels. Here are some of shots I snapped while stalking Lincoln Center during during the shows. I need to get myself into a pair of those black cage booties asap. (And then take a cab of course). LOVE.

A {Modern} Family Affair

So excited the Emmy's were on last night! A much needed fix for my red carpet withdrawal. The Emmy's are one of my favorite award shows, its like watching all of my besties hanging out together at one big party. Loved it! There were so many ladies and gents that looked absolutely gorgeous last night.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner. Claire Danes. Not one to typically outshine the others, she looked drop dead gorgeous in this beautiful Oscar de la Renta gown. Understated yet elegant. Loving the black and blue sequins.

Gweneth is 100% fabulous ALL. OF. THE. TIME. Even with her midriff exposed at a formal affair.

Jennifer Carpenter. Wowza. I am so used to seeing her in those lady suits she is always wearing on Dexter, it is strange to see her all dressed up but she looked amazing! The dress and the hair are perfection. I might be slightly biased since Dexter is probably the best show on tv, but I'm okay with that. Now, how can I get my hair to look like this on a daily basis?

Va va voom. While Sofia Vergara always seems to go for the same sex pot look, it sure does work for her. Those emeralds earrings! PERFECT.

Blech. Julianna is that a dixie cup you're wearing? This dress may have worked on someone a little more out there, but she is far too tame to try something like this.

I love that Heidi is wearing a design of a Project Runway alum! Bravo. However, I am not at all loving this dress. She is a walking coral reef.

Girls of Glee...stick to singing and cheerleading outfits. Glaming it up is apparently not your thing. All of these dresses just looked like they were trying way too hard.
